It’s crazy how when you look up to someone and you admit it to the world people start calling you names like “dick-ridder”. Especially when that person is from our community people will try make you feel bad for it but it’s o.k to look up to Drake? Nicki? Jay-Z? What could it be? Are we brain washed to a point where the inferiority complex is doing this to us? It seems to be a problem when an artist publicly acknowledges their respect for a local act.
Gigi Lamayne was on Twitter and mentioned how she is a big fan of revolutionaries who want to change the world like AKA or Steve Biko or Akon and there were several negative comments made by fans. The question in my head was is it because they think Aka doesn’t deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence with Biko or Akon? Why? You are a fan of yourself as much as you are a fan of your own people.
