Aewon Wolf Shares What Happened When He Consulted The National Arts Council About Artists’ Relief Funds

Aewon Wolf Shares What Happened When He Consulted The National Arts Council About Artists’ Relief Funds. When Covid-19 hit the country to an extent where places had to be locked down to prevent the spread, it didn’t just affect 9 to 5 workers but mostly artists.

The government created means to compensate workers for the lost time in the 6 months of the lockdown, including artists. Not every artist has been paying much attention to the funds that were meant to be released on their behalf. Rapper Aewonwolf decided to take action and gave fans a feedback along with his views regarding issue.

In his statement Aeown claims that he called that National Arts Council to confirm the release of funds. He said they told him they were waiting on the Minister of Arts & Culture to approve certain parts of the process.

“I just got off the phone with @NAC_SA who is distributing the relief the fund for artists after I being reffered to them by the Dept of Sports Arts and Culture and they say they are waiting on @NathiMthethwaSA to give the go ahead to pay artists who applied online??

“The run around given to artists who I know need the funds to survive after they were deprived months of a opportunity to earn and are still restricted in the ability to is actually extremely saddening cause it seems bureaucracy is the issue for something straight forward,” wrote the Khuluma rapper.
