“Yes it was, it is difficult when you don’t have anyone who will speak on your behalf, which is why it took so long for me to break into the industry.”

“The challenges are the fans, the followers are so hard to please and now I think it’s because of social networks. The world has become smaller and you cannot be taken seriously if you cannot even speak to your fans. Back in the days a superstar was a superstar, Nowadays fans ask you to follow them. They send you messages on facebook if you don’t respond they demand responses. Back in the days a super star was a superstar, we always saw them from a distance.”

“The challenge is still sales. We are not doing the numbers that Kwaito did. We still need to reach the masses. Hip Hop appeals to the youth but there is still a chunk of people that do not get it.”

“Proving to my parents that choosing Hip Hop was a perfect decision. I pushed hard to get signed and release an album, not only did it do well but it has also brought respect to the surname – ‘Zakwe’.”

“The challenge changes with every hurdle you jump over, and you face new hurdles. When I started out I had to battle so people could see I am a real MC, after that I had to get over the challenges of recording, mastering, mixing, distribution and Outrageous came into the picture and sort that out. I’ve faced many challenges even the language barrier some people feel strongly about their language that they feel as soon as the rapper rap in English and they don’t relate. The fact that I’m not from here but I’m based here, I had to overcome xenophobia I had to overcome the perception on foreigners , it took a while to be accepted in the hearts of South Africans.”
