Major League DJz On How They’ve Grown Since Moving On From Hip-Hop. Major League DJz have been making waves in Amapiano recently, taking the sound all over the African continent. The Hip-Hop duo were once apart of the Hip Hop community and also released a few bangers before making the switch over.

Major League DJ Explains Why He Left The SA Hip Hop DJ Whatsapp Group

Major League recently joined Riky Rick for an interview on his exclusive Remy Martin Team Up Sessions. The three spoke about what Major League plan to do with the Amapiano sound in the future and how they have since grown from moving from Hip-Hop to Amapiano.

Riky Rick mentioned that they started as Hip Hop DJs and most people know them as Hip Hop DJs, he asked what made them make the change from Hip Hop to Amapiano.

I think it’s growth more than anything, but I think we did quite a lot in Hip Hop. We just had to do something more exciting. I won’t say Hip Hop wasn’t exciting but gave ourselves a new energy a new feel. I think Piano was the way. It’s just been crazy ever since we started so yeah.

The brothers further explained how Amapiano grew their brand more than Hip Hop ever could, explaining that Amapiano grew their following exponentially and Hip Hop failed to do that.

SA Hip Hop was very big but I don’t think it could’ve crossed us over into a different space in Africa, in the world. The sound wasn’t growing, it wasn’t really authentic to South Africa so us getting into the dance space and getting into a different space of Amapiano and tryna to take it to the world. I think that has grown us much more, the following has grown much bigger and also the dance space is a DJ space. Hip-Hop is not really a DJ space.
