SA Hip Hop has been going from strength to strength with every year that passes. There was a time being a rapper was frowned upon in our society because rappers weren’t making that much money at the time, “rather you be a Kwaito artist instead.”
It took time but we took over the music industry in SA and we at a point where we are aiming to be the biggest genre on the continent. Last year MTV put out their controversial SA’s Hottest MC list and it trended all over the continent so they have decided to beef up the process of creating the list.
MTV Base (DStv channel 322) is gearing up to compile its annual countdown of ‘SA’s Hottest MC’s’ – the definitive list of SA’s most authoritative MCs from the last 12 months. This year (2015) the they’ve added cyphers into the mix with DJ Vigilante on the decks. Watch Reason, Gigi Lamanye, Kwesta and Solo team up to deliver this cypher.
