Da LES who is also known as the North God released the best work of his career so far in the last quarter of 2015 and has been making noise with singles such as 6 AM and Summertime since. The rapper visited DJ Capital on the Capital Rap Up for an interview where he explained what it means to be North and how the name came about.
“One of the first things is that in SA Hip Hop there were so many representing Soweto and I just felt like most of the audiences we were performing to or connecting with on the streets were from the North so I though what can we do to represent us and then it just so happen that the North God name came from Burna then it just dawned on me that I gotta be a voice for the people and the lifestyle” explained Da LES. “You got to take it to yourself and say what can I do today that can make me more NORTH!” said LES.
“The difference between this album and every other album of mine is everybody who featured on the album brought different energy’s” Les explained. “Ma-E’s energy was amazing on the 6 AM he co-produced that, Freak Nasty he co-produced! We just kind of found tracks that suited everybody like Summertime suited Riky Rick” said the North God.
