“None of us play on their stations” Says Cassper About SA Music In The US

Cassper Nyovest has been ridiculed for trying to compare himself or his music to the music put out by American musicians. The rapper explained that he set out to sell out the Ticket Pro Dome to show his people that we are just as good as the American musicians that they praise so much.

Nyovest sold out the Dome a couple months after Chris Brown had just done 16 000 people in the arena. The rapper has been fighting hard to try get local radio stations to play South African music as much as possible to make sure the music goes further than it currently is.

“Last night my uber driver asked me a question. He asked me if American stations play South African music as much as we play them here. Lol” said Nyovest. You would expect the rapper to be known by now after doing records with big American artists such as The Game, DJ Drama, Talib Kweli, O.T Genesis and so many more. “I told him they don’t even know we exist at all. Last time they heard of a South African musician it was Lucky Dube.”

“They don’t know any of us. None of us play on their stations. Nobody. Only South Africans who live there know of us” Cassper Nyovest told the driver. What do you think should be done to change this situation? Is more radio airplay enough or it’s simply a start?
