The collaboration was powered by Coke Studios which is a platform that has moved African musicians closer to each other by the continental collaborations they have been organising for the last 2 seasons of the show.

Both artists can rap and sing so nobody can safely say they know what type of record is going to be recorded in their session. The Emtee-Trey Songz episode is the season finale of this years Coke Studios season.
