A night eagerly anticipated by music enthusiasts for a blend of local and international artists on stage unfolded into a damp and muddy day. Nevertheless, the wet conditions couldn’t dampen the spirit of the crowd, who revelled in an unforgettable experience, particularly highlighted by the electrifying live performance of Kendrick Lamar in South Africa.

Priddy Ugly was one of the people who attended the concert and the rapper took a moment to recount the tumultuous yet beautifully adorned experience. The award-winning rapper said that it was his first time to be in a crowd for many years and that he saw more cell phone screens and alcohol cups than he experienced Kendrick Lamar performing.

“Me & my people had VIP tickets/tags for the Kendrick show, but decided that we wanted to be in the general crowd, it wasn’t easy, it was messy, had to check so many gents ‘bout pushing & shoving the women around us.

“I saw more cellphones screens & alcohol cups than I saw Kenny. Had more interactions & engagements with people, than I heard the music. 1st time in crowd at a concert in years, but a dope experience nonetheless. S/O to all the people I met, who had nothing but love & good energy to share.” Wrote Priddy Ugly.

Despite the chaos in the crowd, the majority of music fans who attended the two-day concert expressed having a wonderful experience. Despite facing challenges with water and electricity, the fans credited the organizers for delivering a show that was deemed worth every penny.
