The American record producer and rapper, Mac Miller was born as Malcolm James McCormick on 19 January 1992 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He signed a record deal with Pittsburgh-based indie record label Rostrum Records. He first started rapping at the age of fourteen and at the age of 17, he made it to the final four in Rhyme Calisthenics, the MC competition at Shadow Lounge. He is also the founder of his own record label imprint, REMember Music. There is no doubt that the 24-years-old versatile artist is definitely an act to look out for in the music industry.

1. Mac Miller was born Malcolm James McCormick on 19 January 1992 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

2. His father is Christian and his mother is Jewish. His father was an architect and his mother was a photographer.

3. He attended Winchester Thurston School and Taylor Allderdice High School.

4. He first started rapping at the age of fourteen but before that, he wanted to be a singer.

5. He was also part of rap group The Ill Spoken together with fellow Pittsburgh rapper, Beedie.

6. In 2009 at age 17, he made it to the final four in Rhyme Calisthenics, the MC competition at Shadow Lounge.

7. A significant breakthrough came in late 2010 when he embarked on his first tour, the Incredibly Dope Tour, selling out every location and later that year, he won two awards at the Pittsburgh hip hop awards.

8. In 2011, he was one of eleven rappers featured in XXL magazine’s Freshman Class of 2011.
