Despite delivering a song that is topping the charts right now, AKA shed some light on his relationship with fellow rapper Nasty C way back when they featured on the song Bang Out. In an interview with SAHipHopMag the rapper said; “My relationship with Nasty as well you know, we were never really close.”

“In 2012-13 I met Nasty C as a 14 year-old, he actually jumped on stage with me, I think that coming from there, it was a different era and a different time, now if you listen to my record with Nasty, its more artistry, its more of two guys just comfortable where they are,” he said.

AKA continued by complimenting Nasty C on the Lemons verse (Lemonade). The Supa Mega, however, highlighted that he is now concentrating on creating the best music for the listeners and that his music is no longer about competing on a song.

“For me its not about, you know his verse is fantastic but for me its not really about that competitiveness anymore, especially on a song like that, its really about making the best art for the fans and I think he really blessed me and I’m really really thankful for that,” said AKA.

The World Is Yours hitmaker further made it clear that he is now all about vibes in his career and he is trying to make music that he will be able to listen to. “For me its about vibes right now in my career, I’m making music from a perspective of, i want to make music that I can ride on and listen to in the future,” he added.

The synergy between the two rappers was evident, and their individual wordplay, delivery, and swag each added something special to the song. Nasty C has a reputation as one of South Africa’s top Hip-Hop artists because of his consistently crisp phrasing and that turned the song from lemons to lemonade.
