Commentary On 2016 Hip Hop

Here we decided to lay a commentary on 2016 hip hop since we got few days left for a new year. Honestly speaking, 2016 has been nothing less but major. I thought I should alert yall, year after year the hip hop scene gets bigger and better. Amazingly, the emergence of new faces raises new experiences and emotions within the community. 2016 has been a huge period for hip hop, even the legendary Tribe Called Quest closed off the year with some of dopest ish ever.

Hip Hop headz were fed this year more than ever anticipated, since some of the projects appeared surprisingly with the likes of Kendrick dropping without announcing. The year couldn’t get better, with Future beating everybody with three number one album on Billboard since Glee soundtrack albums in 2010. Gucci Mane, French Montana, Chance The Rapper and many more defined 2016 of what it is, teasing fans with the dopest joints.

2016 hip hop commentary will not be complete without The Life Of Desiigner, Kanye West and J Cole who outsold everyone in the game with 4 Your Eyez Only, moving 100 000 units in a week with streaming alone. A good year indeed, but we also have fallen angels like Phife Dawg, from the Tribe Called Quest and Bankroll Fresh. R.I.P is the song that we shall sing.  We also had enticing beefs to close off the year, one could forget Meek and Drake feud, The Game and Meek, and most significant of them all, Drizzy and Kid Cudi. In a nutshell, 2016 was bigger than hip hop.
