Rashid Kay Details Why SA Rappers Should Not Only Release Music On Fridays

During a Masterclass Podcast episode, Rashid Kay detailed why it is not essential for rappers in South Ah to release music on Fridays. The Amakoporosh hitmaker revealed that dropping new music on a Friday is for American artists simply because they have the Billboard Charts.

“You South African rappers don’t have to release on a Friday you can release on any day,” he said. “Fridays are for Americans, you know why? Because they have the Billboards, the first week sales and streams for the Billboard Charts.”

“We don’t have Billboards here, you don’t have to release on Friday, the reason they release on Friday is because when you release on Friday it gives you more days to be reviewed for next Friday, so Friday to Friday is more days,” he explained.

The acclaimed hip hop superstar also disclosed the benefits that come with releasing music on Friday compared to any other day in the USA. “If you drop on a Monday you have a few days, if you drop on a Tuesday you have a few days to be reviewed,” he said. “So if you drop on a Friday you have the longest days in the week to be reviewed next Friday so you accumulate all the numbers for your first-week release,” said Rashid Kay.

Recently, Rashid came out and made a bold prediction on SA rappers dropping love songs on Friday in anticipation of Valentine’s Day. “Eish! I foresee artists dropping love songs this coming Friday. So predictable” tweeted Rashid. His words were justified after Nasty C went on a release a love song a few days later.
