The ANC in KwaZulu- Natal released a statement calling for action and indicating that the person who killed AKA- ANC  is “a community member and encouraging anyone with information to co-operate with law enforcement agencies.

American Rappers pays tribute to AKA!

Read the press statement below which read; “

Dr Pixley ka Isaka Seme House: The African National Congress has received the tragic news of the brutal murder of world renowned Rapper AKA.

Originally known as Kiernan Forbes, AKA was assassinated in a drive-by shooting in Durban’s Florida Road last night.

No amount of words will be fit enough to express our deepest condolences to his family, business associates, the entertainment  industry and his fans.

The heartless murderer is a friend of someone.

He is a brother and

A neighbor.

Most of all, the murderer is a community member.

We are encouraging anyone with information to co-operate with law enforcement agencies.

It is a fact that some of those who are involved in such crimes are known by certain community members. We must not allow one individual to disgrace all of us as peace-loving South Africans.

We read daily about horrific personal accounts and stories in social media platforms, capturing the frustrations of many people throughout the corners of the province and the country about crime.

Many individuals in communities have bitter personal experiences or that of closest friends, relatives or associates.

This cannot continue unabated.

We have in the past implored law enforcement agencies to come hard on criminals and use all resources to protect innocent communities.

The culture of impunity and perception of relatively easy life in prison needs to be given attention through a strong action.

A firmer hand on crime is not at all an undemocratic practice and is compatible with practices of a free people.

As the ANC in KZN we have called on the ANC-government to refine the United Front Against Crime initiative during the Provincial Cabinet Lekgotla to be held next week.

Crime is one of the biggest threats we are facing as the country since we attained freedom in 1994.

All spheres of the ANC government must give strong support to the police and encourage them to act firmly and decisively to protect lives, property and the dignity of our nation.

Once again, we send our deepest condolences to the family, friends, music fraternity and his fans during this time of bereavement.

When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.

We shall all miss his voice and sight but never from our hearts as we listen to his inspiring music.
