During his early days in the rap game, Luke came through the hands of the likes of Gemini Major before he encountered the famed DJ Maphorisa. At that time, the Durban rapper was made to hop on the beat by Gemini Major which was then used on Cassper’s Tito Mboweni.

However, Lucasraps revealed that he failed to deliver because he felt the beat was too big for him. “Fun fact, I’ve actually known Gemini for a very long time. So I freestyle for Gemini when I was 15 if I’m not mistaken with Junior Lavi, so Lavi actually opened a lot of gates for me,” Lucasraps said during an interview on Sportscene Podcast.

“So I’ve known Gemini for a long time, but I was a kid you know so I couldn’t really make a song with the guy. I could rap, but I couldn’t make a song, like structure a song. So at the time, they sent me a beat, it was the Tito Mboweni beat but I just felt like that beat was too big for me I dont wanna lie.”

“I was getting swallowed by the beat, I got the nerves so I told Gemini and I was like yo boy I can’t do this one right now but im gonna gym and when I feel like I have the confidence behind the mic I will hop on to it,” Lucas added.

Lucasraps confirmed that he is currently working on his album, but he has slowed down on that stating that for now, he will be dropping singles.
