AKA has been involved with the music industry for over 10 years now and the big homie is still going hard if not harder. Since day 1 we knew the homie was very out spoken which has gotten him into a lot of trouble but he is never going to change who he is. AKA has been involved in a lot of controversy lately, so he decided to sit with Mtv Base’s Sizwe Dhlomo to discuss all the hot topics surrounding his name right now:

1. AKA was a producer before he became a rapper

AKA started off a beat maker before he decided to get get in the booth and rap. AKA was part of a group of producers called Ivy League but the relationship didn’t continue because AKA was looking for a better situation. Just like his role model Dr West, AKA later grew and became super famous because of his raps instead of making beats.

2. AKA was introduced to his record label Vth Season by Tibz

AKA’s journey later on changed when he crossed paths with Tibz who later introduced him to Vth Season which is AKA’s current record label. “IVY League came at the right time after Entity but at a later stage I had to move on as an artist and wanted to grow. “The I want it all music video x song got me out there the way it was supposed to do”

3. AKA is not a robot

The Supa Mega sometimes gets treated like a robot without feelings so he made sure to remind the fans that he is not a robot. He is a human being with feelings just like everyone else. This point was kinda funny but we totally understand why he would feel the need to put it out there.

AKA – “You know at this point in time i am thinking that maybe I have showed you to much of my life on social media. Maybe I have cracked enough jokes now and it’s time to say things through my music”

4. The media forced him go public with his relationship with zinhle.

AKA and Zinhle had been dating for 3 years and there had been rumors about their relationships but neither 1 o them confirmed them. After Zinhle fell pregnant the couple felt they had to come out and AKA had to come out as the father.

AKA – “When Zinhle fell pregnant I had to come out as the father of the child and this is when the media would use this content as part of their stories. The media would force its way into our lives and I had to do the right thing by saying that we are an item.”

5. The only female in AKA’S life is Kairo

Several stories about the Doro Mega have been in the press lately, including the Bonang allegations but AKA stands by his statement and says Kairo is the only female in his life. “The only female in my life now is Kairo. In terms of looking for an ideal partner though they have to be smart, independent, articulate and ambitious. But I am not thinking about that now. I am just focused on my music” said AKA.

6. Composure is a track about what’s going on in AKA’s life and not a diss track

AKA spoke about Composure and explained that it was not a diss track but a track about what’s happening in his life and after I listened to it again it now makes sense. People were anticipating the Cassper diss to a  point where they would take anything he said about Cassper as a diss. “I made Composure cause I was sick and tired of tweeting. I wanted to take it back to the music, the art form of rap. The content in the song is stuff that is happening in my life and I decided to do all of this over a dope beat”

7. AKA cadmits to slapping Cassper and sent an apology to the fans

The Doro Mega has been doing a lot of training and admits he got too excited and clapped Cassper in a club. He also apologises to Nyovests fans and his own fans for his actions. “I take full responsibility for the incident and i would like to apologize to my fans and Cassper’s fans. It was in the heat of the moment.”

8. He also spoke on why he wanted to retire the SA flag

AKA wanted to retire the SA flag because South Africans were celebrating when he lost at BET 2015 awards. SA Twitter was in a frenzy after the BET Awards and so many people were happy AKA had not brought the award home.

9. All Eyes On Me Is A Pan African Song

Clearly All Eyes On Me was not just a hit in SA or Southern Africa but on the whole continent.

“I always do things that make artistic sense. So when we did All Eyes On Me I wanted it to have a pan African presence. I appreciate how MTV plugged the song in the UK cause it was that type of record to plug. I was kicking it with Burna Boy for a few days and i thought he would do the song justice and he would be a dope fit on the record.”

10. King Doro spoke about his future plans

AKA also spoke about how he plans on throwing his own concerts and how he is all about the music at this point in his career and life in general.

“Right now its all about the music. I want to be a better performing artist. I want to be better at performing live shows. Sure clubs are cool but I want to appeal to the continent and do more live gigs and even maybe throw my own concerts.”
