Sizwe Dhlomo Delivers A Practical Explanation On Why SA Hip Hop Has Been In A Bad State. The “SA hip hop is dead” debate has quite cooled off as most big-name rappers are starting to deliver top-charting music. The likes of K.O, AKA, Nasty C and Emtee have all come through with good music that has sparked the much-needed conversation about SA hip hop.

Despite all of the good SA hip-hop music that has been released, the discussion about the death of hip-hop in SA remains a relevant topic due to how the game significantly declined following Amapiano’s dominance.

Speaking during the Podcast And Chill episode, Sizwe Dhlomo gave a logical explanation about the root cause of what caused the decline of SA hip-hop dominance. “One of the things Mac it’s actually interesting to bring that up, one of the things why hip hop was in a dire state as of late, is because a lot of the guys that got access to those platforms and opportunities then decided they want to be artists themselves,” he said.

In my view, you can’t be a referee and a player at the same time, said Sizwe. “So if for example, your duty is to push talent then do that, don’t be jealous of talent in any way, don’t feel like you got to block them because they’ve got a song and you also got a song coming out. That’s a conflict of interest in my view and for me, I was very clear I never wanted to do music,” he added.

This is not the first time Sizwe Dhlomo has addressed the situation of SA hip hop. In a now-deleted tweet, the media personality asked a question to his followers whether they have an idea of what happened to the rap culture in South Ah. “Rap was once great in this country! I wonder if guys understand what went wrong?” He tweeted.
