“We been doing new age kwaito,” AKA Explains His Sound To Critics

AKA has been sharing snippets of new music with the aim of building up the hype for his upcoming album from fans who he promised something a bit different for the summer.

The clips evoked different views from his followers with others stating that his sound is becoming more Kwaito than before. Most SA rappers such as Casssper, K.O, Zingah, Ma-E and Okmaloomkat at least fuse their music with a lot of Kwaito sounds, even AKA admitted that he too has been rolling with the sound from way back except he calls it”new age kwaito”.

Most SA Hip hop artists justify the use of Kwaito in their songs by calling it versatility and exploring basis that will cater for those who love Kwaito as a genre seeing how it is slowly dying down. After all, hip hop is a vast genre on it’s own, AKA is making sure that he touches all the angles by fusing other genres.

“Personally. In my own humble opinion. We been doing new age kwaito since “I want it all” … that must have been like … 08,” wrote Supa Mega.
