Featuring two renowned rap artists gracing stages across multiple African nations, this tour has earned acclaim as one of the boldest music undertakings in recent memory. Yet, it’s the tour’s marketing strategy that has ignited a debate, dividing fans mostly in SA.

Taking to Twitter (X), a dedicated fan of Cassper Nyovest, known as @HlengiWay, delved into the recent uproar, sharing her thoughts on what she perceives as a subpar promotional effort for the African Throne tour. In her commentary, she speculated that UMG might have been responsible for the promotional shortcomings, attributing the entire issue to them.

I think the concern is similar to those of the album rollout, it’s more overall PR, things like Ads, billboards, promos.. as 2 of UMGs biggest hip hop brands, and as a first of it’s kind, UMG should’ve done more in terms of marketing.. That’s what Nasty Feed is unhappy about..” She tweeted.

In response, Cassper’s manager TLee clarified that the African Throne music tour is entirely independent of UMG, and laid responsibility on other entities, specifically, Family Tree, Ivyson Ent, and Bridge Ent, for any shortcomings.

“With all due love… Label has absolutely nothing to do with the tour. This is a Family Tree, Ivyson Ent, Bridge Ent curated tour. If there’s any blame it’s on us, concept and execution all on us. Btw Nairobi was an oversold show.. however we’ll def push harder marketing,” wrote Boss TLee.

Despite the initial controversy, enthusiasm for the African Throne Music Tour continues to soar, as TLee proudly announced that the Nairobi, Kenya show was sold out. So far, Cassper and Nasty C have graced Kenya and Eswatini and they will be heading to Zambia and Botswana in the coming days.
