Reason Calls Out SA Music Organizing Boards Following The Disputed #SAMAs28. Many people on social media were wringing their hands about the South African Music Awards (SAMA28) selection process. Due to previous controversies, it was anticipated that the prestigious awards ceremony would offer a credible occasion. However, SAMAs28 failed everyone once again.

Reason Calls Out SA Music Organizing Boards Following The Disputed #SAMAs28

Reason criticized the SA music organizing boards on Twitter, urging them to hold respectable awards ceremonies rather than insulting the entire nation. The well-known rapper and Ampiano phenomenon continued by offering the wise recommendation to appoint young people to boards so they help with solid decision-making.

The rapper also requested that DJ Mphorisa be added to the board to help in making wise choices for South African music. “Dear @RiSARAV @SAMROMusic @OfficialSAMPRA please get young music executives on your boards now. There’s no way you’re gonna embarrass us & yourselves like this. Invite Maphorisa to be a part of your collective or something. We are losing faith in you now like this. Please.” Tweeted Reason.

The main talking point of the just-ended awards was the Artist Of The Year Award which was won by an unknown artist. Reason added in a tweet that the only artists that were supposed to be recognised are Makhadzi, Big Zulu and YoungStunna yet the award proved otherwise. The rapper further pleaded to help the organizing boards to make the right decisions.

Big Zulu, Young Stunna and Makhadzi are 3 of the biggest artists in the country. Yet… your awards reflect otherwise. How are YOU guys in these offices yourselves ok with this??? How are you happy to have an Artist of the year that no one knows? Come on guys. Let us help you!” Reason added.

Reason obviously understands how hard artists work to produce outstanding music but in the end, they don’t get their flowers. In an effort to fairly acknowledge the effort musicians put into their work, the rapper has also offered to consult as a Music Culture Specialist free of charge.

“I’m even willing to consult for you guys as a Music Culture Specialist for free. For the sake of fairly recognising the hard work these musician put it in everyday and night… I’m willing to share valuable knowledge With you for free. Just please make room for us. We’re here!” Reason said in a tweet.

Following Haksul Muziq’s SAMPRA Artist of the Year win at SAMA28 Mzansi expressed their disappointment after their favourites were snubbed for an unknown artist.
