With the upcoming South African Music Awards, rappers will go head to head in various categories, but the SA hip hop Album of the year will be one to look forward to. Taking to Twitter, the SA Music Awards revealed the SA hip hop albums that will be up for the prestigious award.

“The numbers don’t lie! Here are the Best Hip Hop Album nominees. #SAMA28.” Reads the tweet. On that note, let’s walk you through the SA hip hop albums that have been nominated for the award.

Blxckie – B4Now

The deluxe edition of Blxckie’s “B4Now” album has made waves in the SA hip hops space. The rapper recently signed a new deal with Redbat in appreciation of the success of his debut album, so it’s not strange to see Somnyama on the list of nominees.

Emtee – Logan

The South African Hip Hop scene was ecstatic after  Emtee released his album “Logan.” The album was named after his second-born son Logan whereas the album Avery was named after his first son. In the recording, the rapper is heard saying he “had to do it for Logan this time.“

A-Reece – Today’s Tragedy, Tomorrow’s Memory

A-Reece will also compete in the SA Hip Hop Album of the Year category at the SAMAs28. The rapper has also been nominated for Artist of the Year, and it would be a dream come true for South African hip hop if he wins all of the awards. comes after a couple of previous releases, notably his “Reece Effect” collaboration with producer MashBeatz.

25K – Pheli Makaveli

25K received many props following the release of his album Pheli Makaveli. The rapper has worked with one of the top Producers in Zoocci Coke Dope and he featured with the likes of A-Reece, Flvme and Emtee for the success of his body of work.

Kid X – Father Of Zen

Kid X happened to be amongst the rappers who dropped albums last year as the rapper came through with his body of work Father Of Zen. The album comes with a total of 13 tracks and contributions from other artists that include; Nirvana Nokwe, Boskasie, Given Zuli, Ntunja, Lilow NTK, and Thokozani Kabini.
