Gigi Lamayne Talks About Her Upbringing And How She Got Into Hip Hop

Gigi Lamayne is one of the few women in the country who despite the culture and stereotype has wormed a way into the Hip Hop space and planted a seed that is growing beautifully and grooming her best.

On a latest Pap Culture episode the sassy Femcee opened up about a lot of things from her upbringing to why she got into Rap music and people who inspired her growing up.

“I grew up in the south side of Johannesburg in a township called Soweto where many great minds were made and cultivated. I grew up in a very ‘in blank term’ dysfunctional home, both my parents are still alive but they are not together anymore.

“Hip hop was just an outlet for me with everything that i was dealing with at the time – my parent’s very abusive home. Love my dad to bits and i still look after him. We still kinda rekindling our relationship. My mom who was practically a single parent, she’s a nurse she worked tirelessly to give me the opportunity that i have now.”
