Notably, influential podcaster and media personality MacG has expressed his disappointment with local rappers who have been hesitant to embrace the Amapiano wave, despite its growing global recognition. MacG, known for his unfiltered opinions and candid discussions, took to his podcast to voice his concerns, questioning why some South African rappers continue to resist the vibrant Amapiano style.

The recent release of US rapper T.I.’s track, which seamlessly blended hip-hop with Amapiano rhythms, has catalyzed renewed discussions about the fusion of musical styles and the potential for cross-genre collaboration.

“So now what do all these ki hip-hop dawg n*ggs have to say because he’s (T.I) their GOAT and he’s jumping on a Piano beat but they dont want to touch Piano,” MacG said. “He’s Nasty C’s GOAT, he mentioned he looked up to T.I. What about all those Hip-hop guys in SA that dont want to touch Piano, if your GOAT is doing Piano, who are you?”

MacG emphasized to South African rappers that by not embracing the Yanos wave, they are depriving fans of quality music. “Guys you are robbing us, imagine Nasty C on a Piano beat flowing like T.I on that beat,” MacG added.
