DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards Organizers Confirm Sjava’s Removal As Nominee Amidst Rape Accusations

Head organizers from the annual prestigious award ceremony DSTV Mzansi Viewers confirmed publicly that it has removed Sjava as a nominee from the 2020 awards.

The removal is due to the rape allegations made by former lover Lady Zamar. The two have opened up cases against each other, Zamar on rape claims and Sjava on defamation of character. The case is still ongoing, the hype from the media has also imposed a huge effect on the brands of both celebrities.

Firstly the 34 year-old was dropped from Cape Town Jazz Festival which he was scheduled to perform. Now DSTV Viewers Choice Awards announces removal, he was nominated in the category of Song Of The Year. In addition he was going to perform in the event, that too has been Cancelled.

“The DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards has decided to withdraw the nomination of local artist Jabulani Hadebe popularly known as Sjava, from this year’s awards,” said Reggy Moalusi, executive head of corporate affairs at MultiChoice South Africa.

“This as a result of an ongoing investigation into the local performer by the authorities.

“The decision to remove Sjava’s eligibility, including cancelling his performance at the awards is not one that has been made lightly, but we believe is in the best interest of all parties concerned,” said MultiChoice channel confirming to Sowetan LIVE on Thursday morning.

The awards will take place on Saturday March 14, at Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg.
