“Black people go too hard just to say goodbye,” Reason On The Expenses Of Black Funerals

“Black people go too hard just to say goodbye,” Reason On The Expenses Of Black Funerals. Rapper Reason who has just lost his grandmother has posted views on how black people might just be overdoing it when planning funerals.
In most black communities death becomes a big deal, not for the fact that someone died but how much is spent on it. The expenses are intended to give the person a dignified and comfortable farewell. However, it leaves most families in great debt, which begs the question – is it a good thing to spend too much money on funerals?
Reason has made a point of how such expenses are rather ‘too much’. He then suggested that things can be made simpler to avoid so much time, money and energy invested into the last goodbye.
“Some of these funeral expenses. Yaaaah nneh. I really feel like black people go too hard just to say goodbye. A lot can be simpler, but I think we tend to over extend ourselves with some these procedures,” he wrote.
Although some disagreed with him, the change of culture to others seemed like a fitting option.
