SA Hip Hop Mourns The Loss Of Trompies Member Mjokes. Kwaito group Trompies has contributed largely to the South African music industry and has also influenced other genres. Their record label Kalawa Jazmee recently announced the tragic passing of group member Mjokes and tributes have been pouring in for him.

On the morning of the 23rd of May 2021, Kalawa Jazmee took to their Twitter page to release a statement about the passing of Mjokes. The statement mentions that he passed away in a car accident in the early hours of the moment en route from a performance.

It is with great sadness to announce that our KALAWA JAZMEE co-director and fifth member of Trompies, Emmanual Mojalefela Matsane popularly known as Mjokes passed away in a car accident. The accident happened in the early hours of this morning, 23 May 2021 after their performance with Trompies. Further information regarding his memorial service and funeral will be given during the week.“, the statement wrote.

Members of the SA Hip Hop community took to twitter to bid farewell to Mjokes. Buyile hitmaker Khuli Chana wrote that Mjokes was one of the nicest and realest OG’s he has ever met. “Rest in peace MJOKES one of the nicest and realist OG’s I’ve ever met,he always showed me so much love. My condolences to #Trompies #Kalawa and family.” Khuli wrote.

Cassper and DJ Dimplez both wrote, “#RIPMjokes” with Cassper highlighting the legendary status of the Trompies member.

Powerful lyricist Blaklez wrote, “Rest in power Ta Jokes.

Award winning producer pH Raw X said Rest in Peace to Mjokes and wrote, “Thank You” attaching a photo of the legend to his tweet.

Skhanda World member Ma-E and the multi talented Rashid Kay also took a moment to say “Rest in Peace“.
