DJ Ready D Reacts To AKA Name Dropping Him On “Smooth Operator.” DJ Ready D, the legendary South African hip-hop DJ, has responded to AKA’s homage in the latest MajorSteez single “Smooth Operator.”

The track, which has been gaining significant traction since its release last week, features AKA explicitly name-dropping Ready D, paying homage to the influential DJ and an acknowledgement of his impact on the South African hip-hop scene.

Taking to Twitter (X), DJ Ready D engaged fans by showcasing his disc jockeying prowess, aiming to draw attention to AKA‘s acknowledgement of him in his verse. “Everybody this is the new Majorsteez featuring AKA, may his soul rest in peace, a song called Smooth Operator. Listen to what AKA was doing over here, I feel that this man is talking from the grave,” DJ Ready D said as he played AKA’s verse.

In the verse, AKA paid homage to the legendary DJ saying; “Can you dig it, dig it? I be ready with the D like tsiki-tsiki Hip Hop, Tupac and Biggie-Biggie You be lookin’ like a snack, oh my niky-niky….”

DJ Ready D went on and paid his tribute to the late rapper stating that he is missed and his legacy. “I didn’t know that he’s referencing yours truly, AKA you’re missed but your spirit and your soul live through the music. Thank you so much for that,” Ready D said.

“When I heard that I just thought to myself, somehow I’m going to use this in my sets. Im going to do something crazy, i thought I should just point that out. AKA, once again my brother thank you so much for the music, thank you so much for your talent and may your soul and your legacy live eternally, Peace!” DJ Ready D added
