Blxckie is one of the SA rappers who has walked through that road towards his way to fame. The Durban-native rapper has encountered numerous individuals who shaped his career trajectory, with the notable inclusion of Yung Swiss among them.

Taking to Twitter (X), Somnyama reminisced about Yung Swiss being the initial mainstream South African rapper to acknowledge his significant talent, paving the way for them to collaborate on a song. Even though the song they worked on together didn’t end up dropping, Blxckie took time to acknowledge Swiss’ support from the early stage of his career.

“saw a post about yung swiss earlier and it reminded me that he was actually the very first ‘mainstream’ brother to hit me up back in 2019 before I even thought of doing the jozi thing. we did a whole song, it was mad, he didn’t drop it tho. but shoutout to him, he saw the vision… still haven’t met him.” Wrote Blxckie.

In response, Yung Swiss affirmed his belief that Blxckie was destined to become the next big thing in South African hip-hop. He expressed his satisfaction in being among the few who recognized the young rapper’s talent early on. “Haha I remember looking through SoundCloud and yt on a mission to find the next big thing.. and you were him my dawg 🙌 I had 0 doubts. Glad I was right and you a real one for this!” 💚 Said Yung Swiss.

Yung Swiss, known for hits like “David Genaro” and “Jungle,” has been a prominent figure in South African hip-hop for several years. His eagerness to support talents like Blxckie reflects the strong sense of community within the South African rap industry, especially considering that he also received support from DJ Speedsta.

As Blxckie ascends to fame with his tracks dominating the charts and his distinctive approach to hip-hop, he solidifies his position as one of the most esteemed South African rappers of the moment.
