The Pompano Beach, Florida born American hip pop recording artist who goes by the stage name of Kodak Black was born with the name of Dieuson Octave from Haiti immigrants parents on 11 June 1997 in Florida, United States. The New Yorker describes his voice and genre of music as “manifestly youthful and mutinous sound”. He broke into the music industry in the year 2009 and in 2015; he signed a record deal with Atlantic Records. One of the XXL Magazine’s named him as one of the 2016 Freshman Class. Despite of being placed in youth detention center thrice in one year and being charged with numerous charges, there is no doubt that the talented 19-years-old American rapper and songwriter has definitely paved a successful path for himself in the entertainment industry.

1. Kodak Black was born as Dieuson Octave on 11 June 1997 in Florida, United States.

2. Kodak’s parents were immigrants from Haiti.

3. He was raised by his mother in a public housing project named Golden Acres in Pompano Beach.

4. At the young age of 12 years old, he joined a rap group called “Brutal Yungenz” and he later joined another local rap group called “The Kolyons” which he used the stage name of “J Black”.

5. In October 2015, Canadian rapper Drake posted a video of himself dancing to one of Kodak Black’s singles “Skrt”, which helped him gain in popularity.

6. He broke into the music industry in the year 2009 and in 2015; he signed a record deal with Atlantic Records.
