With unwavering confidence, Majorsteez’s Sandile declared that Amapiano now wields a cultural impact and influence within the country akin to the dominance of hip-hop. Speaking during an interview on the Spreading Humours Podcast, the Majorsteez brothers shared their thoughts on the sentiments that SA Hip-hop is dead with most SA rappers hoping the Yanos bandwagon.

“I was telling our producer the other day, I feel like for those that have been coming with the comments of hip-hop is dying. People have been saying that for so long and so loudly that it even convinced hip-hop artists that guys it’s a wrap,” Majorsteez’s Sihle said.

“I even told Major, like boy I think as a country we’ve been looking at this thing wrong because if you think about it, Toss is a rapper, Focalistic is a rapper,” he added.

Majorsteez’s Sandile hopped into the conversation drawing parallels between Amapiano and hip-hop’s global influence, saying, “You see this Amapiano is South Africa’s hip-hop. Hip-hop never came from SA it came from all the way that side.

“So I would say that Amapiano is SA’s hip-hop and n*ggs find it hard to accept that this is a new thing because they were so ingested or so much invested in the Western culture they dont know how we are trying to make our own hip-hop right here which has been Kwaito in the past, now is Piano. So I really feel like Piano is some hip-hop of our own.”
