The American rapper from Chicago, Illinois, Earl Sweatshirt was born Thebe Nerude Kgositsile on 24 February 1994. He first started rapping in the 9th grade in 2008, under the name Sly Tendencies. He and two of his friends (stage names Loofy and Jw Mijo) formed a rap trio called The Backpackerz. He is a member of the Los Angeles-based hip hop collective Odd Future. He was nominated for the 2013 Rookie of the Year award. There is no doubt that 22-years-old rapper is definitely a rising star.

5. Following the release of his 2010 mixtape, “Earl”, his mother sent him to a boarding school in Samoa until his 18th birthday and he was not able to produce music for two years.

6. He is a member of the Los Angeles-based hip hop collective Odd Future.

7. He listed MF Doom, Jay Z, Eminem and James Pants as his musical influences.

8. He was nominated for the 2013 Rookie of the Year award.

9. On April 2015, he released a single titled “Solace” which was inspired by his mother. The single gained more than one hundred thousand views on YouTube in 24 hours.
