Nasty C is the only rapper we have heard to have been contacted by Jay-Z’s record label with the hopes of roping him into their team. The rapper later signed with Mabala Noise and his album has to be one of the best albums to be released in the last couple of years.

Mr Cashtime has been on the grind for a while and he keeps proving himself to be one of the best lyricist’s on the continent. K.O became the first SA Hip Hop artist to touch the South X South West stage earlier on this year.

8. Nadia Nakai

Nadia Nakai became the first female rapper to get an endorsement deal in SA and she has since bagged more. The rapper has been releasing some of the biggest hits throughout the year and her collaborative catalogue is just amazing. Nadia has been on tour all year and she recently released a super dope E.P.

Okmalumkoolkat has been on his hustle for a while and in 2016 we have had the opportunity to watch the Smart Mampara grow as a musician and we can safely say that this year he proved to be the artist that represents SA most in his music.

Anatii has been in the game for a very long time and in 2016 he has proved to be a leader who is changing things. His collaborative catalogue keeps getting bigger and bigger and he managed to get Omarion to open up for him at his Artiifact tour.
