DJ Dimplez’s Private Funeral Set For Friday. The late Hip Hop icon DJ Dimplez will be laid to rest on Friday, March 11, 2022, in a private ceremony in Johannesburg, according to his family.

DJ Dimplez collapsed on Sunday at his home in Johannesburg. His family confirmed that the hip hop muso died of a cerebral haemorrhage, a form of stroke characterized by blood in or around the brain. The Mooi family made it known that they are planning an intimate send-off for the award-winning hip hop DJ and the event will be live-streamed. Following that, a memorial ceremony date will be announced.

“Boitumelo Mooi will be buried on Friday 11 March 2022 in a private funeral ceremony for family. We will share the streaming link closer to the time. There will be an official memorial by the Pop Bottles team where all are welcome, sticking to COVID regulation numbers and protocol.” Said the family in a statement shared on Pop Bottles Instagram page.

The Mooi family have also expressed gratitude to South Africans for their support during this difficult time. “From the entire Moois Family, we would like to thank you for your kindness, support and comfort during our dark time following Boitumelo “DJ Dimplez” Mooi’s passing.” Reads the statement.

As a music promoter, Dimplez was instrumental in demonstrating that speciality DJs had a place in South African entertainment. He performed in some of the world’s most prestigious clubs and festivals, and his music was featured on nearly every music chart.
