Stogie T On The Difficulties He Has Experienced On Cyphers

Stogie T gives lessons on the cypher challenges.

Stogie T On The Difficulties He Has Experienced On Cyphers. In the course of appreciating SA Hip Hop Stogie T decided to give out lessons and part of his experiences on Cypher.

The thread was inspired by the Castle Lite Unlocks collaboration with Sway which predominates Cyphers and showcases new rap talent.

“You know in my early days rapping I would say the most exciting and frightening thing was being in a cypher. You first start by watching from the outside the circle as a spectator, you respond and ohh ahh to all the punchlines, then you inch closer and join the circle,” he wrote.

Cyphers count as the most essential part of Hip hop, it doesn’t only unify rappers but serves as the home to showcase raw talent. But Stogie reveals how challenging it is.

“It gets scary when people glance at you so maybe you beatbox to hide in plain sight. You do this for a couple of weeks until you feel confident enough to drop a couple lines, you kick a couple lines, get a couple reactions and grow your confidence…

“But hip hop is competitive sport, so at any given time you might get attacked in a cypher and that’s when you gotta stand up for yourself and hold your ground lyrically. The cypher forces you to work on your craft and stay ready for anything,” he added.

Tumi has graced many cyphers, free-styling and out battling  rappers and ensuring that that the culture stays intact.
