Facts! What You Need To Know About The First Ever SA Rapper! Out of all the local rappers that we know and love today, there is one person in particular who was the first to ever do in Mzansi, paving the way for the rich hip hop industry that we have today.

Get ready for class because school is in session as we are giving you a brief history lesson on who and where the future of SA hip hop all began.

It is believed that Kwaito legend Senyaka Kekana is the first local rapper to ever to it with his groundbreaking debut album ‘Ntate Senyaka’ in 1986 which featured a track titled ‘Jabulani MC’, which led the way in the evolution of music.

The ‘Chisa Mpama’ hitmaker has done amazing things for the culture of music in the early 90s with his diss track to Brenda Fassie In songs such as “Magents”, accusing Fassie multiple things including not being very smart.

Kekana died after a two week stay in hospital from Pneumonia after complained of sinuses and was suddenly rushed to the hospital in Vereeniging.

Reports confirmed that Kekana passed away in 2015 before time as he was scheduled to undergo an operation but his health failed him before he could do so.
