Gigi Lamayne Talks About SA Female Rappers Who Wouldn’t Have Flourished If Male Rappers Didn’t Sign Them

Gigi Lamayne Talks About SA Female Rappers Who Wouldn’t Have Flourished If Male Rappers Didn’t Sign Them. We have heard it many a times women speaking about the difficulties of growing as a female rapper.

The reason for the aforementioned is because for centuries male dominated industries have always made it hard to create space for women.

Gigi Lamayne, Rouge, Moozlie, Boity, Nadia Nakai, Dee Koala to mention a few are females who have made sure to break barriers in SA Hip Hop. Unfortunately each of these women has a story of how disadvantaged they have been.

On a latest clip from her interview on Massive Metro, Lamayne shared how some women in the industry managed to rise through the assistance of men.

“I have been rapping , @Rouge_Rapper has been rapping , @Nadia_nakai has been rapping but only after they got a co-sign from a male rapper people started paying more attention. Does this mean we need a co-sign from a male rapper in order to pop?” – Gigi Lamayne.
