The 2016 MTV Best Hip-Hop Video and Best New Artist nominee, Sidney Royel Selby III who goes by the pseudonym of Desiigner, was born on 3rd May 1997 in Brooklyn, New York. His vocals and rapping technique have been compared to that of the Atlantic based rapper, Future. He commenced practicing his vocals at school plays and at the local church choir and later embarked on his music career after being shot at the age of 14-years. He rose to prominence after the release of his smashing single “Panda”, which topped many music charts nationwide. The XXL Magazine revealed their annual Freshmen Class of 2016, and Desiigner was included on the list alongside nine other new artists.
