“It is not a remix if it’s not yours,” Rashid Kay On Inkalakatha Remix

“It is not a remix if it’s not yours,” Rashid Kay On Inkalakatha Remix. Lately SA Hip hop fans have been swpt over their feet with the new single by Costa Titch featuring Riky Rick and AKA. But the single isn’t an original hence ‘remix’.

The original single is of one of the most successful Kwaito star Mandoza released back in 2000. It is to this day one of the songs South Africans still jam to, basically it became an anthem for Kwaito. As much as most people are loving the new single, some people have their side say on it such as Rashid Kay.

Rashid posted a thread last month educating followers on how the music business works, it so happened that on the thread he mentioned Inkalakatha remix. At the time no one new about this new track, he then took it upon himself to bring out the tweet. The tweet explained how inappropriate it is to call a song you do not own a remix. He said it instead should’ve been called a “cover”.

“NOTE: it is not a REMIX if the original is NOT yours. You cannot record over Mandoza’s instrumental and call it “Nkalakatha Remix”. It’s a ‘cover version’, ‘rendition’, or ‘interpretation’,” he wrote.
