Danya Devs Hits Massive Streaming Milestone With “1 Million” EP
Danya Devs Hits Massive Streaming Milestone With “1 Million” EP. Sphelele “Danya Devs” Dunywa, one half of the acclaimed South African Afro-pop duo Blaq Diamond, is riding high on the success of his burgeoning solo career.

The artist, known for his soul-stirring vocals and innovative fusion of Maskandi, umBhaqanga, and modern pop, announced that his debut solo EP, 1 Million, has skyrocketed past 5 million all-time streams since its release just three months ago.
Taking to Instagram, the “Ibhanoyi” hitmaker expressed gratitude to the fans who have supported his project after 3 months of its release. “Thank you for 5 million streams on 1 Million EP 🔥🔥🙏🏾🙏🏾,” Danya wrote.

Released on August 21, 2025, via Umuthi Records (the label co-founded by Blaq Diamond in 2020), 1 Million is a four-track powerhouse that showcases Danya’s evolution beyond the duo’s signature sound. Blending introspective lyrics about ambition, love, and cultural pride with infectious Afro-pop rhythms, the EP has resonated deeply with listeners across the continent and beyond. Streaming platforms report 5,152,902 all-time streams to date, a remarkable achievement that highlights Danya’s ability to captivate audiences on his own terms.
As the vocal powerhouse of Blaq Diamond—alongside longtime collaborator Ndumiso “Ndu Browns” Mdletshe—Danya has long been a cornerstone of South Africa’s music scene. The duo, hailing from Ladysmith in KwaZulu-Natal, first bonded over a school bus cypher in 2010 and rose to fame with their 2017 debut album Inqola, earning SAMA nominations and hits like “Ibhanoyi.”
After parting ways with Ambitiouz Entertainment in 2021, they carved out independence with Umuthi Records, dropping chart-toppers such as “Summer YoMuthi” and the 2024 album Zulu Romance. Yet, Danya’s solo pivot with 1 Million marks a bold new chapter, proving his star power shines solo just as brightly.
