DJ Dimplez grabbed the limelight for his massive contribution to the SA hip hop culture. Dimplez managed to nurture upcoming artists and his popular event Pop Bottles made him be one of the respected personnel in SA rap.

The passing of Dimplez has set a very devastating mood with the hip-hop industry. Artists and peers in the entertainment have poured their heartfelt condolences to Dimplez’s family and close friends. Okmalumkoolkat took to his Instagram page to remember Dimplez’s contribution to the SA hip hop culture and how he managed to learn certain things from the acclaimed DJ.

The Amalobolo hitmaker revealed in his long-short tribute message that he respected Dimplez for how he managed to work towards Pop Bottles and making it a big thing in the SA hip-hop scene. “I personally learnt a lot about how to see your vision through, from watching him and his team pull off those events and how they sold and marketed the brand, and got other brands involved was genius as well.” He wrote.

Okmalumkoolkat has also pleaded with the people in the hip-hop culture to celebrate artists when they are still alive. The rapper has called on people to embrace the African culture of doing things and shunning away with copying the American style of doing things in making music.

We don’t honour them enough, while they are still alive. We write heartfelt RIP posts like these because there are no platforms where people are celebrated. We mirror a lot from The American industry but we haven’t learnt about how they always fighting to keep their heritage intact, and passing down stories ( an African tradition ) and making sure they control and tell their own narrative.” Wrote Okmalumkoolkat.

DJ Dimplez has worked with various artists in SA hip hop and he managed to produce hit songs to his name. Way Up, which he co-wrote with Cassper Nyovest, Vacation, which he co-wrote with Anatii & Da LES, and the Amantombazane remix, which he co-wrote with Riky Rick, are among his most popular tracks.
