1. Mos Def

Yasiin Bey, also known as Mos Def was arrested after living in Cape Town for two years unlawfully in January 2016.He was later allowed to leave after apologizing to the South African government for breaking the law.

2. Ja Rule

Back in 2003 when Ja Rule was in Durban, DJ Staxx was spinning for the crowd and 50 Cent’s 21 Questions was part pf the playlist after Ja Rule’s set. He wasn’t happy and had his entourage threaten to break DJ Staxx’s neck.

3. Travis Scott

In 2017, Travis was forced to put out a statement shutting down reports that he was being mistaken for Chief Keef in South Africa.

4. Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar’s 2014 trip to South Africa was the beginning of the album “To Pimp A Butterfly“. “I felt like I belonged in Africa. I saw all the things that I wasn’t taught. Probably one of the hardest things to do is put a concept on how beautiful a place can be and tell a person this while they’re still in the ghettos of Compton. I wanted to put that experience in the music,” Lamar detailed how South Ah inspired the album.

5. Migos’ Stocko

When Migos was in South Africa back in 2017, black twitter went crazy naming some popular influencers as part of the girls organized to the group’s ‘stocko’ (girls arranged to entertain guys).
