“The idea was good but execution was poor,” Rashid Kay On SABC Failing To Implement 90% Local Music Idea

“The idea was good but execution was poor,” Rashid Kay On SABC Failing To Implement 90% Local Music Idea. A few years back South African artists protested against SABC (South African Broadcasting Corporation) demanding it to play more local music.

At the time former COO (Chief Operating officer)of the company Hlaudi Motsoeneng came up with the solution that all broadcasting channels under SABC will play 90% local music.

Others see the improvement on SABC playing more local music than before, but others feel it has failed to implement the 90% it proposed as the idea. Rapper Rashid Kay took to twitter to express how he feels the execution of this idea was “poor”.

“You can’t make a statement saying “Tomorrow all the SABC radio stations will 90% local music”. When do compilers get the time to adjust the playlist? That’s the reason they ended playing old songs. The idea was good but execution was poor,” said Rashid who also added by stating how he would executed everything.

“This is how I would have done it: 60% local music, 3 moths later 70%, 6 months later 80%, 9 months 90%. That way you can achieve 90% without even listeners noticing. But the change was sudden, hence I said the execution was poor.”
