Makwa On What Made Working With AKA Special. Makwa, one of South Africa’s most respected hip-hop producers, has collaborated with a bevvy of rappers, and the majority of his work has topped the music charts.

Out of the work and the artists he has worked with in the music industry, the famed producer pinpointed what made AKA a special artist to work with. Makwa said AKA would record his music by himself, unlike other artists he has worked with. “I actually told artists at RapLyf back in the days that you need to learn how to record yourself and they were complaining.

“Then COVID hits n*ggas were calling me asking how they should record. So AKA knew how to do everything by himself,” Makwa said.

Makwa and AKA had a good working relationship as they worked together on the late rapper’s EP Bhovamania. The famed producer said that they spent the whole week in Capetown making the EP along with Gemini Major.

“Kiernan called me at midnight and said yo, I want us to go to the studio to Capetown the following morning,” Makwa said. “I got to the airport we got into the business class it was me, Gemini, and AKA. We got there, I think the whole week we were there recording Bhovhamania.”
