Nicki Minaj Puts A Shine On Feminism As She Cancels Saudi Arabia Concert

Nicki Minaj was set to perform in Saudi Arabia this month for their Jeddah World Fest, but has since cancelled in support of Women’s Rights.

The Anaconda hitmaker was made aware of the situation in the country which consists of gender segregation enforced on all sectors, women are still denied to be in certain places, to wear a certain and to be associated in certain types of projects. As a woman who believes in gender equality, Minaj felt it would be unfair for her to continue performing for a place that still perpetuates female oppression.

“After careful reflection I have decided to no longer move forward with my scheduled concert at Jeddah World Fest,” Said Nicki in her statement.

Minaj continued, “While I want nothing more than to bring my show to fans in Saudi Arabia, after better educating myself on the issues, I believe it is important for me to make clear my support for the rights of women, the LGBTQ community and freedom of expression.”

Thor Halvorssen, President Of The Human Rights Foundation said. “We are grateful to Nicki Minaj for her inspiring and thoughtful decision to reject the Saudi regime’s transparent attempt at using her for a public relations stunt.”
