Sweden Authorities Slam Donald Trump’s Demands To Free A$AP Rocky. It has been almost a month since the arrest of US rapper ASAP Rocky real name Rakim Myers in Sweden. The rapper was arrested on charges of assault which took place during his visit in the country.
The rapper was arrested on the 3rd of July and the people who have attempted to help him include the USA President Donald Trump. The Sweden law enforcement authorities refused to free Rocky on Trump’s demand.
Other celebrities such as Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West have also called for ASAP’s release. More than 500,000, including fellow artists Nicki Minaj and Post Malone, have signed an online petition calling for the rapper to be released on bail.
Even though Trump claims he took action to have the rapper released, Daniel Suneson, the Swedish prosecutor in charge of the case denied speaking to any White House representative.
Donald Trump wrote on Twitter that Sweden had “let our African American community down”.
It was further stated on BBC reports that the Swedish judicial system, prosecutors and courts were independent, the government was not allowed to influence legal proceedings and “everyone is equal before the law”.
