The Big Hash Speaks On The “Originality” Of SA Hip Hop Artists

The Big Hash Speaks On The “Originality” Of SA Hip Hop Artists. The topic of the authenticity of SA hip hop music continues to be the big debate, it becomes broader by day when SA rappers share their thoughts.

The Big Hash shared his version of “originality” when it comes to SA hip hop music. The rapper stated his view right after a certain tweep posted a thread of tweets on how SA rappers lack originality but are often pressed when they don’t receive international support or recognition.

“SA Hip Hop doesn’t have much to offer the world when it comes to originality but they are the most pressed about international support. It’s very weird to me,” wrote the tweep.

“The people you call “original” adapted to other people’s styles, whether it goes back generations ago or a popular style in another region, put it all together & made it their own, it’s what creates the illusion for an artist to be deemed “original” ??‍♂️ everyone needs inspiration,” responded The Big Hash.

Earlier this week even Cassper made comments about SA providing no support to its artists, and continued to compare it to Nigeria.

“A LOT of truth to what you’re saying but this also happens EVERYWHERE in the world. Reality I learnt is that you’re not gonna go anywhere sounding like someone else even in a small way. The music world outside the SA boarders is far more competitive. Who does Wiz and Davido sound like?” wrote Euphonik.
