Could Riky Rick Be Venturing Into New Fashion Business Partnership With Tommy Hilfiger? Riky Rick has been making big moves lately and it seems he is taking things international with his craft.
Riky has not only been limited to music but is into fashion as well. Dubbed the Cotton King for his bizarre fashion style which has earned him recognition from counties overseas including France, it seems now he is taking things up a notch. From walking to Paris Fashion Week to being named SA’s Most Stylish Man by GQ, it has been an inspiring fashion journey for Makhado.
Earlier this year ahead of the Cape Town Fashion Week hosted by African Fashion International (AFI), Riky gave an advise to young fashion designers they may use to make best of their talents.
In order to stand out, designers need to “create a voice that pushes people to be different”. He told a group of young creatives while speaking on the topic of “creativity through diversity”.
Recently the Sondela rapper shared an image of him shaking hands with one of the world’s famous designers and international brand Tommy Hilfiger. The image was captioned #2020Vision.
Rick went on to share a story of what inspired his love for fashion and how he always admired Hilfiger’s designs.
“Ever since then the feeling of not being able to wear what I like has never left me and its one of the reasons I work so hard. It might sound silly to some people but all I ever wanted was to be fresh. Broke or not. No compromise.
“Fast Forward 21 years. Ive had the opportunity to travel the world, make friends and express myself through clothes BUT meeting this man and telling him the story of how his brand was the reason I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE MPAHLAS™️ was full circle.”
