5 Songs You Didn’t Know Were Sampled On Kwesta’s ‘Spirit’ Song! Makwa is undeniably one of the most talented producers in SA Hip Hop.
He has been creating some of the most iconic SA Hip Hop songs which are authentically South African. Makwa dropped one of the biggest Hip Hop singles of the year with his hit Ayipheli which features AKA and Maraza.
He started out as a House DJ and then transitioned into SA Hip Hop were he produced hit songs like Ngud’ and Spirit. He recently broke down the making of Kwesta’s hit single called Spirit which features Wale in a segment of The Recipe on Slikour On Life.
He spoke about the various songs he sampled on the song with influences from the legendary Brenda Fassie and John Legend. Throughout Spirit you can hear the voice of Brenda Fassie going “Ayayayi” in the background which was taken from her hit single Zimbi Indaba which he also uses as the introduction on the song.
