In South African Hip Hop, artists have been diligently pushing the boundaries to deliver exceptional music. Among them, notable figures such as Nasty C, A-Reece, Cassper Nyovest, Khuli Chana, and Da L.E.S have garnered nominations for the esteemed Best SA Hip Hop Metro Award.

However, among the SA rappers who have put in the work last year is Wordz Prince, following the release of his album “People Forget To Be People.” This body of work received widespread acclaim from fans and industry peers alike, positioning it as a project that should have rightfully earned a spot among the nominees for the Metro FM Awards 2024.

Taking to Twitter (X), after finding out he missed out on the chance to win a Metro Award, Wordz expressed his dissatisfaction as he shared the chorus of the song “Obani Lababantu” which translates to “Who Are These People?” as he referred to the nominated rappers.

The absence of Wordz Prince from the list of nominees has sparked conversations among fans with some voicing their disbelief whilst others questioned him if he had submitted his music for the award nominations.

The Metro FM Awards, one of South Africa’s most prestigious music accolades, recognize excellence across various music genres. The Awards ceremony will take place on 27 April 2024 at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.
