Touchline Truth Details How CashTime Influenced His Decision To Quit Rapping Before

In an interview with Zingah on Chopping It With Bhuda T Podcast, the Tembisa-born rapper revealed that CashTime was the reason he decided to quit rapping before. “I’m going to be very honest here, I don’t think I’ve ever said this before, but the reason why I quit rapping before, I quit because of you guys,” he said referring to Zingah who was once a CashTime member.

“I quit because of CashTime, that’s one of the reasons. At the time, I remember I was still trying to find myself with the music and everything. I remember the thing that was popping was you guys (CashTime). This is like Caracara time,” said Touchline.

In as much as CashTime made him quit rapping, CashTime also propelled the young and aspiring Touchline to get into the studio and start recording music. “I remember I went into the studio and I tried to replicate that (Caracara sound). I remember it sounded so terrible, my voice was rough, you guys have the smooth, and I thought wow, to become a really good rapper or big rapper in this country you have to sound as smooth as K.O or Kid X, Smashes at the time.”

Explaining what made him come to the decision to quit rap, Touchline said; “I thought to myself, I have been rapping for so long and I haven’t had a breakthrough and you know what maybe it’s time I call it quit because I don’t have the skill,” he said. “I don’t have the skill to become a big rapper in this country. I can write, but I don’t have a voice. Remember I’m young, so I’m thinking that the way my voice is, is a disadvantage, I’m not looking at it as an advantage.”
